Woman charged over alleged glassing – Ballina

A woman has been charged following a glassing in Ballina. About 12.30am (Sunday 23 February 2014), a 39-year-old man was at a club on Cherry Street when an argument broke out between him and a 47-year-old woman. The woman allegedly struck the man with a schooner glass, hitting the side of his face. Security staff detained the woman at the scene until police from Richmond Local Area Command arrived. As officers attempted to arrest the woman, she allegedly became aggressive by thrashing around and kicking police.
She was taken to Ballina Police Station and charged with:
• Assault occasioning actual bodily harm (x 1);
• Assault police (x 2); and
• Resist arrest (x 2)
The woman was refused bail to appear at Lismore Bail Court (Sunday 23 February 2014). The man sustained a small laceration to his face but did not require medical treatment.
